Required ingredients needed to make yoghurt at home:
1. Powder Milk
You can get any type of powder milk you see. Power milks are very cheap, and it is what you can get around you. For instance, peak milk and cow bell can be used.
A yoghurt won’t look like a yoghurt unless it is thick. Get a yoghurt thicker to make the yoghurt thick.
Water is very important in order to dilute the mixture. The water has to be warm to achieve best results.
This is used to note different temperatures of the mixture.
It gives your yoghurt a good fragrance. It can be strawberry flavour or vanilla flavour, or any other flavour you want.
It will give your yoghurt that sweet taste you want.
Though optional, preservative makes your yoghurt durable.
8. Culture or starter
It brings out the sour taste. The yogurt can come from either a previous batch (if you’ve already made some) or from a store-bought yogurt. You can also use a store-bought yogurt culture, but using pre-made yogurt is easier and less expensive.
How to Prepare:
Step 1. Mix the powdered milk (to taste) in 4 litres of already boiled water (water boiled to 100° Celsius).
Step 2. Allow the mixture to cool down to 50° Celsius.
Step 3. Now add already mixed thickener to taste.
Step 4. Add one tea spoon of culture or yogoment culture or a sachet of already prepared yougurt.
Step 5. Cover the mixture for 8 hours.
Step 6. After 8 hours, add flavour, sugar and preservative to taste.
Step 7. Stir vigorously.
Step 8. Leave for another five hours to ferment.
Step 9. Keep in the refrigerator for it to chill
Step 10. Your yoghurt is ready to be served.
